HAPPY NEW YEAR - AND 2,000,000 VISITORS TO THE HOUSE!

Though it's not really my style, I have a nice blue jean shirt with pearl(or plastic?) snaps instad of buttons that a friend gave me and I'm saving for visits to my area by PETA. It has a small heart and the words John Morrell embroidered on it.

THAT WAS A CONVENTION TO REMEMBER (PART 2)

I am a fundamentalist Christian and I feel strongly on what might be called Christian moral issues. I perfer the 2004 wording. We Christians need to remember that Satan is the enemy not sinners. I oppose gay issues across the board but villifying gays is just plain wrong. There is way too much religion in this election.

A "HELL" OF A HOTEL

Say Rick,
I saw a nice video on the news of the Frontier(I think it was the Frontier) being demolished. Bunch of explosions and it all came falling down. You might want to get a copy when the Tropicana suffers the same fate.

Is the advertising phrase "What happens in Vegas stays in Vagas" actually a hope that people will remain silent about how they are treated there?

FADING FRED FRAMES THE ABORTION ISSUE

Rick
Though the Christian talking heads you find quoted in the MSM may be squawking about stands on abortion, I think you'll find most Christian voters understand that the only thing a president can really do in that area is nominate judges who won't legislate from the bench and even Rudy is willing to do that. A constitutional ammendment to protect the unborn can only be put forth by the congress so what Fred thinks about it is of little consequence. I may hate abortion but I'm still in touch with reality. By the way, I'm also in favor of a theocracy but only one in which the theos is actually God not some guy trying to speak for God.

SEVERE CRACKDOWN BY MUSHARRAF: DEMOCRACY HOPES FADE (UPDATE: MUSHARRAF SPEAKS)

Musharraf just made his second you leave me alone and I'll leave you alone deal with the tribal areas where the Taliban and AQ thrive. Does someone here really believe he did this at the behest of the U.S. government.
As Rick's article points out, there are three players in Pakistan. The military, the secular, and the Taliban. Bush is trying to unite the military and the secular and Musharraf just wants to maintain his own postition. He thinks, probably rightly, that we can't afford to dump him.
B. Poster is correct that the west lacks the will to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons though Bush may send air strikes on their nuclear facilities it will only buy a little time at best. Diplomacy, however, is a false hope. It requires both sides to be willing to compromise and fundamentalists do not compromise. It comes down to which will happen first. Terrorists explode a nuke on American soil or Iran launches a nuke attack on Israel and we'll still be trying to negotiate this away until one or the other happens.

"WILL NO ONE RID ME OF THIS MEDDLESOME TERRORIST?"

I enjoyed the study that rated the news media using the standard the frequency of think tanks quoted and whether they were quoted in a positive or negative light (i.e. Blah-blah the notoriously liberal think tank or Blah-blah the highly respected liberal think tank). Their findings were that Fox is centerist and everyone else is varying degrees left of center. Though I think that Fox has a conservative majority in it's commentators, it is not without liberals. while most other networks are without conservatives. Fox also has many more liberal guests than the other networks have conservative guests especially ones that they will let get in a word edgewise.
Fox also didn't host a republican "debate" full of cupcake questions like all the democratic "debates" have been. Though I think that Fox is conservative, the rest of the networks are so liberal that they make Fox look more conservative than it is.
Rick, I think it is legitimate to ascribe increased credibility to statements because of who made them. The largest study with identical twins to consider the possibility that homosexuality is genetic was done by either UC-Berkley or Oral Roberts. Assume that both have highly regarded science departments, would Oral Roberts finding a connection or Berkley finding no connection give you more confidence in the study than if you reverse who's finding was who's?

CARNIVAL OF SMOKE AND MIRRORS

What did you expect Rick? It never occured to the democrats when they agreed to send Gen. Petreaus to Iraq that his strategy would be so successful. If he continues to be successful it will probably cost them the 2008 elections and it looks like the outcome is slipping out of their control.

WHO IS MR. HSU? PART II (INTERESTING UPDATE BELOW)

If the plot thickens much more, this will have to be at least a made for TV movie.
